Hell yeah, let me give you the lowdown on NONTHEWISER’s self-titled debut album – a fresh blast straight outta Gothenburg, Sweden. This bad boy hit the streets in early 2023, packing a hefty punch with 15 tracks that’ll glue you to your seat from start to finish.
NONTHEWISER’s sound stands with one leg in the 90’s Californian punk rock scene and the other leg in the members Scandinavian roots. Fast and catchy songs about life, death and a world gone mad.
Now, let me tell you, these guys are channeling some serious Bad Religion, Pennywise and No Fun At All vibes. It’s like a time machine to the golden era of melodic punk rock that we all know and love. The album is dripping with nostalgia, hitting you right in the gut with personal tales of loss, love, and everything in between.
The vocals are on point, fitting the genre like a glove. Kudos to NONTHEWISER for laying down this masterpiece at Lights Out Studio with A. Johansson at the helm, and getting it polished to perfection by Magnus Lindberg at Redmount Studios. Melodic Punk Style is spreading the love by distributing this gem.
And guess what? Yours truly snagged copy #69 out of the 200 vinyl first run – a slick white 180 g edition with a rock-solid sound. You can tell there’s some serious craftsmanship behind this beauty.
The album kicks off with a killer intro paving the way for the lead track, “Daytime.” Those choruses are downright infectious and flawlessly executed, no doubt about it. Oh, and did I mention these guys made waves in 2023? Nominated for the Good Shit Awards and making it to the quarters, plus scoring a spot on the Punk Rock Mag compilation. Talk about making a mark!
Our verdict? A solid 4.5 stars – we’re itching to see what NONTHEWISER brings next because ever since we first cranked up their tunes, they’ve been firmly on our radar.
