Music lovers and maniacs, since our adolescence and until now in our adult lives, continue buying and collecting, value that moment when a Cassette, a CD or a Vinyl comes into our hands. Knowing a band formed in 2018 by the singer and leader of the band, Izabela Izzy Rekowska, who is really doing things well is very satisfying; and that was my impression when the new EP by the Polish postpunk and alternative rock band called “Izzy and the Black Trees” came into my hands.
It all starts with “Shutdown City” and the bass line immediately captures my attention, a very good selection to show that it is time to open our senses and enjoy the proposal that “Izzy and the Black Trees” brings us. But the song that caught my attention from its first chords was “Dive of a Broken Heart”, Izabela begins as if it were a poem, with a powerful and expressive voice; For its part, the instrumental accompaniment increases its strength, enveloping our senses with that download of sounds, bringing to mind one of my favorite artists, Patti Smith.
“F-16” is the third song on this EP and I really liked that power, very inclined towards Post-Punk, to the point that the influence makes me think that it is marked by the legendary Siouxsie Sioux, mainly in Siouxsie And The Banshees . Finally we come to the song that closes this very versatile EP, since “New Horizon” is not similar to the previous ones, but it caught my attention, showing me that “Noise Rock” has not died, with that distorted and adorably noisy guitar, perfect for those of us who are lovers of the genre.
Definitely “Go On, Test The System” is one of those gems that have been published so far in 2024, I recommend that you find a special place, something delicious to drink and let your senses fly when you listen to it.
