If you’re a fan of old-school punk rock, especially those early days of BAD RELIGION, REFUSED, or THE OFFSPRING, then Gothenburg’s STAY SHUT is going to hit you right in the feels. These guys, who are all middle-aged, kicked off their journey as a cover band playing BAD RELIGION’s No Control—so yeah, the nostalgia is real.
Their Demo #1 packs four tracks into a quick 12-minute burst of pure energy. The vocals are soaked in that classic 90s punk vibe, a little reminiscent of THE DECLINE‘s singer, giving it an authentic throwback feel. But it’s the melodies and fast guitar work that really stick with you—just when you think you’ve gotten a taste, it leaves you wanting more. The catchy, melodic choruses really elevate the whole thing, and you can tell these guys know exactly how to craft a sound that’s both familiar and fresh. Definitely give these guys a shot if you need a new punk fix!
