Disaster Party!

New York City ska just got a fresh jolt of energy! Bad Mary (alternative-glam-punk) and Mega Infinity are teaming up for a split 7″ release titled Mega Bad Disaster Party. Officially dropping on streaming platforms December 3, 2024, (PRE-SAVE IT HERE) with a physical release set for early 2025 via Ska Punk International, this split promises to bring the NYC ska-punk scene to a boiling point. And with a little help from Joystick, these tracks are poised to turn every living room, dive bar, and dance floor into a full-blown party.

This ain’t your run-of-the-mill ska; it’s ska with that unmistakable New York grit and flair. Expect addictive horn lines, electrifying guitar riffs, and those tempo shifts that keep your feet moving. The tracks bring in everything you love about ska—catchy choruses, energetic rhythms—but with a modern twist and plenty of personality.

From the lyrics, it’s clear these songs hit on everything from sticking it to the noise of life to partying like there’s no tomorrow. Bad Mary’s contribution delivers a sharp commentary on societal pressures with lines like, “I don’t want what I need, I want what I want,” blending rebellion with an infectious groove. Meanwhile, they crank up the apocalypse party vibe in “The Disaster Party”: “If we’re going out, we’re going out in style.” This track screams end-of-the-world celebration, complete with rum, cola, and no regrets.

Mega Infinity dives into the chaos of modern life and the overwhelming noise of the world around us. With a raw expression of how constant chatter, opinions, and distractions can drown out your own thoughts and leave you feeling mentally trapped. The repeated line “I can’t (I can’t)” captures that sense of frustration and helplessness, while the imagery of voices piling on top of each other creates a claustrophobic atmosphere.

The lyrics nail the experience of trying to find clarity in a world that’s always screaming—whether it’s social media, the news, or just the relentless noise of day-to-day life. It’s a callout to that overload, with a punk edge that makes you want to scream along just to let it out.

In short, Mega Bad Disaster Party isn’t just a split; it’s a declaration of fun and ska unity. Come December 3, be ready to dance, shout, and lose yourself in the sound. Let’s go, New York!
