Straight out of the dark crypts of Gothenburg, Sweden, Left Hand Black are back with their third full-length album, Death Can’t Keep Us Apart, and man… it’s an absolute horrorpunk feast for the undead.
Clocking in at 14 tracks, this record drips with everything we love about the genre — the undead romance, the campy doom, and those anthemic choruses that make you wanna sing along while digging your own grave.
If you’ve ever been hooked on the Misfits, but craved that extra European twist — darker melodies, tighter production, and a more cinematic edge — this album’s got your name written in blood.
The opener hits hard, setting the tone for a ride through heartbreak, horror, and hellfire. One of my absolute favorites, “Breeding Ground for Lost Souls,” perfectly captures that gothic melancholy — a love song from the grave that blends raw punk energy with haunting lyrics:
“IN THE NIGHT YOU WILL SEE / THERE’S MORE THAN MEETS THE EYE…”
It’s poetic and nasty at the same time — classic Left Hand Black.
Then there’s “In the Centre of My Heart,” a fast, pounding track where the double kick pedal practically drills through your soul. It’s one of those songs that makes you feel like you’re speeding down a foggy highway at 2 a.m., headlights slicing through the dark.
And we can’t skip “Why Do I Kill Everything I Love,” featuring guest vocals by Per Stålberg — a tragic and beautifully twisted ballad that perfectly captures the band’s knack for mixing emotion with decay. You’ll find yourself humming that chorus for days.
Special shoutout to the guest lineup — Nim Vind lending his voice and lead guitar to the title track gives it that extra layer of undead swagger, and Mario Dahmen’s organ on “Doomed Romance On A Summer Night” brings a deliciously vintage horror vibe to the mix.
From start to finish, Death Can’t Keep Us Apart feels like a love letter written in cemetery dirt — dark, melodic, and passionately alive despite its deathly themes. The production (courtesy of The Circle Music) is top-notch, giving every track the punch it deserves without losing that gritty punk edge.
