After five years , London punks The Scuts are finally back with No Profit, their third release since they kicked things off in 2014. Following Gross Profit (2014) and Net Profit (2020), this new EP feels like the band waking up, cracking their knuckles, and saying, “Alright, let’s get back to it.”

It’s a tight four-track blast, straight to the point—no filler, no wandering. The bass and guitar hit with that classic Scuts grit: punchy, a bit scruffy in the best way, and always driving the songs forward.
This is about a real slimy politician called Lee Anderson who is nicknamed “30p Lee” due to his ranting about being able to feed a family on 30p years ago. The lyrics pull no punches, playing with political absurdity the band clearly hasn’t forgotten:
Lettuce see who wins / Lettuce see who falls
You can Truss in me / With the economy
and then later:
I’m not a quitter / This is goodbye
I’m never leaving / I resign…
Sayonara / I can’t pay that mortgage for ya
It’s sharp, funny, bitter, and way too real.
The EP keeps that energy going—jabs at corporate favoritism, immigration hysteria, and the everyday nonsense that modern Britain keeps tripping over:
Lettuce fucking frack / Lettuce cut the tax
For my corporate friends / Who I’ve not made yet
and:
Did you know /
That illegal immigrants get cars and sky and all the benefits?
By the time the riot-fuel verses hit—
So we better start a riot / Attack the police
Smash up some Gregg’s / To protect the street
—you’re reminded exactly why The Scuts’ voice matters: they’re pissed off, but they’re smart about it.
Production-wise, Greg Hummell keeps everything tight and raw without sanding down the edges. Dave Crawford’s mastering (Plastic Tree Studios) gives it enough polish to punch through without losing its live-room bite.
In just four tracks, No Profit manages to feel like both a comeback and a tease. It’s short, sharp, and genuinely leaves you wanting more. If this is The Scuts warming back up, then whatever comes next is going to be fun.
