Yo, let me tell you about this band out of Brooklyn called Absolute Garbage. These middle-aged punks just dropped their album on vinyl last May 20, 2024, called “Chef’s Kiss,” and it’s a 13-track banger that’ll make you want to dust off your old leather jacket and hit the mosh pit.
These guys have got that old-school punk rock vibe nailed down tight. Imagine the gnarly energy of DEAD KENNEDYS, the rawness of CIRCLE JERKS, and the chaos of GERMS all blended into one, but with a New York style on it. The guitars are distorted and fast, just how you like it, with riffs that punch you straight in the face. The lyrics? Oh man, they’re right to the vein, no holds barred. They speak their truth, loud and proud, no fear, no filter.
Lou DeRose recorded this bad boy, mixed by Human Waste, and it got that final polish from Total Sonic Media. The sound quality is top-notch, but it still keeps that gritty punk essence alive. It’s like they captured the soul of a sweaty basement show and bottled it up in this album.
One of my personal favorites has to be “When The Economy Collapsed.” That track hits different, man. It’s got that perfect mix of anger and disillusionment that makes you wanna scream along. If they can bring this kind of energy in the studio, just imagine what their live shows are like. It must be pure, unfiltered chaos.
It’s so refreshing to hear a band keeping old-school punk alive and kicking. Absolute Garbage is a must-have on your radar. Trust me, you won’t regret giving them a listen. You’ll be hooked from the first track.
