Color Cage

ColorBender’s debut EP, Color Cage, is an emotionally vivid burst of sound from a band whose roots run deep in the Belgian punk rock scene. Hailing from Liège and made up of members from The Lucky Trolls, Young Enough, Radio 911, and Chump.

At just 16 minutes, Color Cage is compact, but it’s anything but small. The EP weaves between reggae-inspired grooves, acoustic vulnerability, and punchy pop-punk hooks with impressive fluidity. It’s this mix of contrast and cohesion that makes the listening experience feel unpredictable.

Lyrically, ColorBender delivers with sincerity. Take “Christmas Day,” a standout track that captures the soul of the band’s pop-punk core. There’s something disarmingly honest about lines like:

“I’m comfortable enough to say / That I felt lonely on Christmas Day.”

It’s this kind of vulnerability that gives the EP its emotional weight. The track’s bittersweet reflection on solitude and unmet expectations feels universally relatable, while still being deeply personal.

Tim Van Doorn’s production gives the EP a crisp and grounded edge, allowing each stylistic shift to feel intentional rather than jarring.

Color Cage is a promising debut that balances heart and energy with remarkable grace. It’s music that wants you to feel everything—and then break free.
