There’s something refreshing about hearing a new band that understands exactly what makes British skate and street punk hit so hard. Hailing from the East Coast of the UK, quartet Amongst Strangers arrive with their debut EP, Strength of a Few, a five-track blast of honest, no-frills punk rock stuff.

From the opening moments, the band leans into the classic UK street punk spirit without sounding trapped by nostalgia. The songs are driven by punchy, prominent bass lines that give the whole record a solid backbone, while the guitars keep things moving with sharp, energetic riffs. What really stands out, though, are the choruses—big, memorable, and built for collective release. These are the kind of hooks that practically demand to be yelled along to after a rough week.
Across its five tracks, Strength of a Few balances urgency and melody with confidence. The band doesn’t waste time overcomplicating things; instead, they focus on tight songwriting, relatable themes, and the kind of straightforward energy that has always been at the heart of great street punk. There’s a sense of camaraderie running through the EP, a feeling that these songs were written by and for people who know the value of sticking together when life gets messy.
Amongst Strangers have delivered a compact but effective introduction to who they are: a band with grit, catchy choruses, and a clear love for the UK punk tradition. If this EP is any indication, they’re off to a promising start and definitely worth keeping an eye on.
